Acupressure and simple bodywork can be powerful tools in the hands of birthworkers and empowering techniques to teach to our patients and clients.  They can act as simple comfort measures during pregnancy, labor and postpartum, but are also strong enough to be offered as a first-line intervention when symptoms, concerns and complications arise.  These effective tools are respectfully grounded in East Asian Medicine Theory and can be safely used alongside modern medical interventions for a variety of perinatal concerns.

In this introductory course participants will learn the very basics of East Asian Medicine theory, receive hands on instruction in how to effectively perform acupressure and have the opportunity to practice techniques on themselves or one another during class.  Material will range from providing relief for nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy; to using acupressure to promote cervical readiness; to working with complications such as exhaustion in labor.  Class content will be partially student led based on the professional needs of those who choose to attend!  I’m ready to teach you whatever you would like to learn!
